WHAT PITTSBURGH HAS TO OFFER:

The 2007 Sport Marketing Association (SMA) conference is scheduled for November 1-3 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, hosted by a consortium of schools: Duquesne University, Robert Morris University, Slippery Rock University, and West Virginia University.

Pittsburgh was establish in 1758. As of the 2000 Census, the city's population is estimated at 369,879, marking it as the second largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh is the largest inland port in the United States, providing access to the nation's 9,000 mile inland waterway system. The total area is approximately 4.75% water (U.S. Census Bureau) which justifies why there are an estimated 720 bridges found within the city limits alone!

The average temperatures for the month of the November range from a high of 50.5 degrees to a low of 34.2 degrees fahrenheit. Approximately 3.02 inches of rain falls in November.

Pittsburgh is home to three professional sports teams: NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers; MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates; and NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh is the only city where all the major sports teams share the same two colors: black and gold. Whether you want to take in one of the 80 bars and pubs found in South Side Flats, scale 400 feet up Mt. Washington on the inclined plane railroad, known as the Duquesne Incline, shop at Station Square or learn about the history of Western Pennsyvlania including the impact of Pittsburgh's sports history at the Heinz History Center, you will see why Pittsburgh attracts 3.2 million tourists annually.
